Transparency

At Yammy, we believe that clean food starts with transparency. Here's what you need to know about lead levels in our sweet potatoes.

Lead is a naturally occurring element in the Earth’s crust (found in soil, water, and air everywhere on the planet), and as a root vegetable, it is very difficult for any sweet potato product to have "zero" lead. The goal is to source from soil that has the lowest possible background levels.

Yammy Industry Average
Lead in Raw Sweet Potatoes 3-5 ppb [1] 10-20 ppb [2]

[1] Results reflect testing of representative samples at an independent third-party laboratory testing via ICP-MS of the finished product.

[2] Major studies by the FDA and Healthy Babies Bright Futures (pg. 52) found that 100% of sweet potato products tested contained lead, with average levels ranging from 10–20 ppb (parts per billion). Our raw sweet potatoes test at a fraction of that amount.
